Naa Anang is our 30th Athlete to speak to us about making the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships Team. Members of the Spark Team will compete in Eugene (USA), from July 22nd to 27th 2014.
How did you get involved in Athletics?
My brother started in little athletics and naturally the whole family signed up!
When you first heard that you made the team, what was your initial reaction?
Initially I was surprised. Even though I had done my qualifiers it felt surreal that I was actually going.
Are you doing anything differently in preparation for this competition?
Yes, I’ve been working on improving my weaker areas
What are you most looking forward to about the trip to Eugene (USA)?
Everything! But mostly competing and meeting talented athletes from across the world
Who has been your biggest inspiration in this sport?
Definitely Bronwyn Thompson. She is one of the most respectable women and the Australian record holder.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to become a professional Athlete?
Don’t give up, your trials and setbacks only make you stronger
