Olympic champion Sally Pearson (Qld) has today enjoyed the honour of dining with Her Majesty The Queen alongside Ed Perkins, the captain of the Australian Rugby 7’s team.
Selected to represent the Australian Commonwealth Games Team at the luncheon, Pearson was humbled by the honour and enjoyed a brief one-on-one chat with Her Majesty about the unseasonably warm weather here in Glasgow.
“That was fantastic. I sat down for my lunch and then had a tap on the shoulder to ask if I would like to go over, shake hands and meet the Queen,” Pearson said.
“That was a huge honour, and very exciting. We spoke about the weather. She didn’t really ask any questions, she just said that it looks like I’ve brought the weather with me, and I said that it looks like we have.
“For me in particular it was a huge to be a part of, my whole family loves the Royal Family and it was nice to be able have some photos taken and send them back to them, make them a little jealous.”
