On June 4th 2015, David Tong was involved in a terrible bike accident, causing substantial damage to his face and mouth. Fortunately, the helmet he was wearing saved the remainder of his head and possibly his life. The damage from the accident resulted in 7 teeth being lost, which will need to be fixed.
Long time friend of David, Harley Logan, took it upon himself to create a GoFundMe Page to assist with the significant costs of the dental work and maxillofacial surgery.
“As a 17 year old student-athlete living out of home he’s not the wealthiest of fellas and if you could donate a little to help him out he’d appreciate it beyond words. A little bit from everyone can go a really long way.” Harley
With the tremendous support of the community, Harley has been able to raise $14,480 which is an incredible effort and so close to their goal of $16,000.
Dentist, and good friend of the boys, Chris Waters, has said that he will be doing all of the work himself at cost price, saving David thousands of dollars.
GoFundMe takes 5% and the payment service Stripe takes 1.75% (+ $0.30 per donation), so although the goal may be $16,000, to completely cover all costs a little bit extra will need to be raised. You can donate by heading to the page by clicking the below button.
