UPDATE 5:05 PM: We have spoken to Jack Hale’s management and can confirm that Jack’s suspected groin injury is just soreness and is nothing major.
Tasmanian Jack Hale has pulled up half way through the heats at the annual Burnie Gift in Tasmania this morning. Tasmanian’s The Advocate reporter Camron Slessor has reported that Hale pulled up with a suspected groin injury.

Morgan Mitchell has progressed through to the final of the women’s gift with a solid run in the semi-final, taking out the third race. Joel Bee and Will Johns have also made it through to the men’s final with strong performances in their separate semi-finals.
The Women’s Burnie Gift final is on at 7:39 PM tonight with the Men’s following straight afterwards at 7:49 PM. The Tasmanian Mile is also on at 8:09 PM with Olympians Ryan Gregson, Zoe Buckman and Genevieve LaCaze all competing.
