Both Jack Hale and Jordan Shelley took to the track again today, this time for the semi final’s of the 100m. Jack stopped the clock at 10.70 (-1.2 m/s) seconds in the second semi final earning him 6th position in the race. Jordan came in 7th in his semi final, with a time of 10.83 (-0.2 m/s) seconds. Neither athletes will progress through to the men’s 100m final.

Annabel McDermott and Amelia Mazza-Downie were our first distance athletes to take to the take, when they stepped onto the line in the women’s 3000m. Neither athletes PB’ed however, both definitely gained great experience competing on the international stage. Annabel finished in 9th position with a time of 9:42.86, and Amelia came 14th in a time of 10:00.05.

Samantha Peace got off to a great start in the final of the women’s discus throw. With a personal best throw of 50.59m in her second attempt, she has maintained her third position all the way through to the end of the competition. Samantha becomes our first Australian athlete to medal at the championships.
