Some post race thoughts (PRT’s):
PRT1:
Don’t think that you can pick the pocket of a Sandringham sprinter and get away with it, they will hunt you down says 5 medals in the 4x100m with open men and open women both netting gold.
PRT2:
Keep your eye on the stables of Athletics Essendon’s youth for the future. All 9 of their medals were won in the U14, U16 and U18 categories.
PRT3:
On the other side of the coin the 40+ and 50+ categories are dominated by 3 clubs. Diamond Valley, Keilor St. Bernard’s and Western Athletics. Diamond Valley are strongest in the men’s, while Western Athletics are the standouts in the women’s with 5 and 3 medals respectively.
PRT4:
Western Athletics were the only club to medal in every one of the 5 event categories. (4×1500, 4X400, 4X100, 4X800 and medley) and they did it whilst winning 6 medals.
