Athletics Victoria has today launched its new athlete ranking platform to support and align with the AV competition and athlete pathways.
AV Rankings is an online, interactive ranking system that captures over 4000 weekly results from Athletics Victoria’s Shield competition and ranks these based on age, gender and performance. These performances will be used to determine eligibility into the AV Knockout competition with Round 1 kicking off on Sunday 14 December 2014 for the top ranked 60 members in selected track and field events.
“This is great use of technology that the team at AV has been working on for the past six months. It provides a real time performance list for all AV members across all disciplines of track and field.,” Athletics Victoria CEO Glenn Turnor said.
“It has great potential for both athletes and coaches who can monitor performance and use this to complement coaching and competition programs.”
To be eligible for AV Knockout, athletes must compete in a round of AV Shield Competition which includes Zone v Zone. Once qualification is confirmed by AV, athletes must then compete in either Round 1 or Round 2 of AV Knockout to be eligible for the AV Knockout Final. Athletics Victoria recommends members check out the rules on the AV website or submit any questions via email at ua.gro.civshta@remmus.
The new AV rankings system relies on the valued work of our Victorian Officials and Volunteers from the seven zones that currently conduct AV Shield competition. These results are submitted after each Round and then uploaded to the ranking system within 72 hours.
