Jasmine Dighton is our 23rd Athlete to speak to us about making the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships Team. Members of the Spark Team will compete in Eugene (USA), from July 22nd to 27th 2014.
How did you get involved in Athletics?
I got involved into athletics after my mother put my older sister and brother into the sport and I have been doing athletics since the age of 5.
When you first heard that you made the team, what was your initial reaction?
I was really excited to find out that I would be competing for Australia again.
What are you most looking forward to about the trip to Eugene (USA)?
Competing in the Australian uniform again and to have the experience of racing with everyone that has made it to World Juniors.
Who has been your biggest inspiration in this sport?
Jane Saville.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to become a professional Athlete?
It’s going to be a lot of hard work to get to the top and you’ll need to be dedicated to training.
