Jesse Osborne is our 20th Athlete to speak to us about making the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships Team. Members of the Spark Team will compete in Eugene (USA), from July 22nd to 27th 2014.

How did you get involved in Athletics?

My first involvement with athletics was when I joined little athletics back in U8’s

When you first heard that you made the team, what was your initial reaction?

My first reaction wasn’t the most surprising, it was more the realisation that I have a lot of work to be done and goals to be reached before I get to World Juniors.

Are you doing anything differently in preparation for this competition?

My preparation will be very similar to what I have done previously to major races. If accessible I will jump into an altitude tent for a few weeks prior to leaving.

What are you most looking forward to about the trip to Eugene (USA)?

What I am most looking forward to is just being on the start line waiting for the gun and also to catch up with Anežka Drahotovà from the Czech Rebulic.

Who has been your biggest inspiration in this sport?

My biggest inspiration in this sport would easily be Jared Talent. Very underrated athlete in Australia his success so far is unbelievable and to top it off his as humble as they get.

What advice would you give to someone who is looking to become a professional Athlete?
My advice would be that you don’t just randomly end up on top of the mountain you got to start from the bottom and work your way up!
